Judy is a well known and respected canine educator located in the St. Louis, Missouri area, with over 26 years experience teaching dogs and their owners as well as various other species.   She provides knowledge and understanding to the people she serves and gains the trust of the animals she works with.

Along with her successful training business, Dog Star Training, where she teaches a wide range of dog-related classes and private training, Judy is also called on as an expert speaker, evaluator, volunteer, legal advisor and provider of animal talent for print advertising, film, motion pictures, and stage.

Judy teaches animals using the latest scientific research.  Utilizing this research, Judy teamed with Jennifer Arnold to create Bond-Based Choice Teaching™ and the Assistance Dog Alliance.

Judy Is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Certification Council of Professional Trainers, a member of the Pet Professional Guild,  A Certified Nose Work Instructor, Graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy,  Certified Canine Massage Therapist,  a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, AKC Puppy S.T.A.R evaluator, a APDT C.L.A.S.S. instructor and evaluator,  and the American Humane Educators Association.

In addition, Judy sits on the Advisory Board for St. Louis County Animal Control, has volunteered her time for the Missouri Puppies for Patrol program.  Judy also works with children in understanding how to prevent dog bites and how to be kind to their pets. She volunteers her time as a behavior consultant to rescue groups and shelters throughout Missouri and Illinois.  Judy is a contributing writer for Pets Best Insurance, Tame Magazine, Tails Magazine, Angie's List, and Positively.

  ​​​​​​Jennifer is the Founder and Executive Director of Canine Assistants, located in Milton, Georgia.  Founded in 1991, Canine Assistants is a non-profit organization that teaches service dogs to assist children and adults who have physical disabilities or other special needs.  She worked to enhance her knowledge of the extraordinary relationship between humans and animals and how they could best work together.  She is the co-creator of Bond-Based Choice Teaching™, a philosophy based on creating a special relationship allowing dogs and their human partners to trust and understand one another.

Jennifer is the New York Times bestselling author of Through a Dog’s Eyes, which was the subject of a PBS Special of the same name.  Her most recent books, "In a Dog’s Heart" and "Love is All You Need" further examined our relationship with dogs.  

She has been featured in The New York Times, London Times, People, Mademoiselle, Family Circle, Atlanta Magazine, and various other publications. She has been profiled on numerous television programs, including NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The Diane Rehm Show, and CNN’s HLN Leaders with Heart.  

She has been awarded the Jefferson Award for Community Service, WTBS's Super Citizen Award, Buckhead Woman of the Year, MS Society of Georgia’s Woman on the Move 2011, Atlanta Magazine’s Women Making a Mark, and the GVMA’s Humanitarian of the Year Award – amongst other recognitions.
